In March 2014, Spain’s Ministry of Public Works announced that Madrid’s Barajas airport was to be renamed Aeropuerto Adolfo Suárez in tribute to the country’s first democratically elected Prime Minster. The facility is the gateway to both Spain and its capital and, last year, ranked inside the top 30 busiest airports in the world by passenger traffic.
