Trent XWB Milestone

Rolls-Royce is preparing to ship the 100th Trent XWB engine to the Airbus A350 final assembly line in Toulouse.  The engine is destined to power the fourth A350 for Singapore Airlines, 9V-SMD (c/n 037), which is scheduled for delivery later this year.  Rolls-Royce says the milestone is an important stage in the ramp-up of production of the powerplant at its Derby facility, which will be producing a Trent XWB engine every working day next year.

Rolls-Royce’s Director, Programmes-Civil Aerospace Chris Young explained: “It is great to reach this milestone and we continue to increase Trent XWB production to meet future demand.”

The manufacturer has already sold more than 1,500 engines to 41 customers and is the sole engine supplier on the A350 programme.
